I love every kind of art, but am more attracted to “pretty” or as I would like to think, beautiful art. I rejected abstract art in the past, but find that, in fact, my pictures are composed of mini abstract artworks. Now I do not understand my art, which I prefer – the mystery. The biggest influence on my work has probably been Gustav Klimt.
My definition of art is that it is about the emotional feeling the work creates in the viewer.
The collage artwork is “interactive” (very important to me) so that for the viewer, at various distances from the artwork, different things are percievable. Ie there is no single image which remains static. The different tiny, contrasting items on the canvas also interact with the subconscious of the viewer, making it more alive (as opposed to the plain overall image). Thus the exact same picture, one made with tiny puppies, kittens, clouds and flowers, or another with tiny skulls, knives and guns would “feel” completely different in tone and mood to the viewer. This is astonishing to me. At different distances, it presents differently.
I live in Cape Town and have five lovely daughters. I do art Classes on Tuesday mornings and may expand to Thursdays, or even an evening as there is demand.
